Caolin #4 | 2017 (May 19th-21st, Cluj-Napoca, Romania) is the first international edition of The Contemporary Ceramics Festival ~ CAOLIN.
This year’s edition will take place at The Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography (Reduta Palace) on 21 Memorandumului Street in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Throughout the fourth edition of the festival, we invite you to visit the International Contemporary Ceramics Fair, where approximately twenty Romanian and international ceramic artists will present a wide variety of work that you will also be able to purchase. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to participate in one of the free workshops dedicated to both children and adults, meant to introduce you to the world of visual arts and, also, to join other additional events connected to the festival.
The Long Night of Museums (or the Night of Museums) is also taking place on May 20th. The Long Night of Museums is a cultural event in which museums and cultural institutions in 30 European countries cooperate to remain open late into the night to introduce themselves to new potential patrons. Caolin Festival will be available for visits that night until 1 AM.
“Caolin is the annual festival that brings to the forefront the greatness and avant-garde of ceramic art throughout Romania. The event is highly interactive and its purpose is to bring awareness towards ceramic techniques through a series of events and workshops open to the public”.
Letiţia Câmpan, PhD in Culture of Communication.
Caolin is a non-profit organization founded in 2014 in order to promote ceramic art and to offer the public the opportunity to interact with this medium. We believe that the artistic endeavours abandoned in favor of more industrialised techniques represent an important array of knowledge that needs to be promoted. Through shape, texture, feel and touch, the maker of an object shares a physical and emotional bond with the person using the made object.
Ceramics is the medium that best encompasses the maker’s knowledge, exuding their presence, passion and commitment.
